I've gotten a lot of hits on this blog from people who are looking for information about PUPPP (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy). It's also known as PUPP (with no third "P") and in Europe as PEP (Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy).
PUPPP is basically an awful, itchy rash that occurs in mid- to late-pregnancy. It is a horrible experience, no matter how much the name sounds like it involves dogs.
If you suspect you have PUPPP (which generally appears first on the stomach, especially near/in stretch marks), please contact a medical professional: your OB/GYN, a CNM, your PCP/GP, or a dermatologist are all good choices. There are many medical options for treatment: steroids, antihistamines, cooling lotions, etc. If your rash becomes infected (mine did!), antibiotics are a must. There are also a large number of OTC options that you can discuss with your doctor.
